Individuals

CIS - BAY AREA VOLUNTEERS
Communities In Schools - Bay Area (CIS-Bay Area) plays a vital role in the lives of many students in our community. It helps keep kids stay in school and prepare them for life. We are a dropout prevention program in the Clear Creek and Dickinson Independent School Districts. We help kids stay in school by offering mentoring, tutoring, counseling, career awareness, social services, parental involvement and enrichment programs on 15 local school campuses serving over 1200 students annually with a 98% success rate. We could not provide these services if it were not for the help of our dedicated volunteers.

Giving of your time and resources creates a significant positive change in the life of a child. By giving of your time as a tutor, mentor or special event volunteer you are telling a child that you care about them as a person and that it is important to stay in school.

TUTORING/MENTORING PROGRAMS
By assisting students one-on-one in their academic areas of need one hour per week, you not only help them academically but you become their mentor. A mentor serves as a positive adult influence and a caring and compassionate sounding board. By tutoring one hour per week, you can help a child raise his or her self-esteem, gain a greater understanding of educational and work opportunities available to them and, most of all, let them know that someone truly cares about them as an individual.

SPECIAL EVENT OR PROGRAM VOLUNTEER
Serve as a chaperone for a local field trip or assist with preparation and coordination of the event for a few hours. Donate your time for a few hours on a specific day or for the entire planning of a special program or event.

Civic Organizations

As an organization you can help children and young people stay in school and prepare for life by:
